Despite Congress passing a $900 billion COVID relief bill, and initial COVID vaccination efforts, the benefits of these measures won\u2019t immediately be evident for the majority of distressed commercial properties. As a result, we expect delinquencies will remain elevated for much of 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CRED iQ monitors market performance for nearly 400 MSAs across the United States. Below is a summary of the default rates for the 50 largest metros segmented by property type. Consistent with the months following the start of the pandemic, the hotel and retail sectors remain the largest contributors to the delinquency percentages for the majority of these statistical areas.&nbsp; Loans backed by self-storage, multifamily, and industrial facilities posted the lowest delinquency rates for most of these markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"720\" height=\"926\" src=\"https:\/\/cred-iq.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Delinquency-Chart.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-522\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cred-iq.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Delinquency-Chart.png 720w, https:\/\/cred-iq.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Delinquency-Chart-233x300.png 233w, https:\/\/cred-iq.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Delinquency-Chart-696x895.png 696w, https:\/\/cred-iq.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Delinquency-Chart-150x193.png 150w, https:\/\/cred-iq.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Delinquency-Chart-300x386.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the markets with the largest spikes in delinquency for this reporting period is Cincinnati. Contributing to the overall default rate for this metro is the 212-key, <a href=\"https:\/\/cred-iq.com\/browse\/Property\/Hotel\/4501%20Eastgate%20Boulevard-Cincinnati-OH-45245\/dbjpm2017c6250001266201153\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cincinnati Eastgate Holiday Inn<\/a>. The full-service hotel was built in 1983 and renovated in 2010.
